Tradition's Turn Towards Today's Trends!
Dear Distinctive Agents,
Wow. Thank you so much for your well wishes and congratulations. When Al was speaking yesterday about how in 1982 there was a different transition that Distinctive Propertiesmade, all I could think about was, "I remember that!" Yes, I was young only 12 years old but I always felt like I was part of my mom's office. We were a Distinctive family. Then Later, when I worked in the administration side of the office, I remember how each day different agents would go to lunch, happy hour and family dinners with each other. We were a Distinctive family. Many of you here were part of that and I think that is very special, something you don't get with other offices.
Katie and I really want to build on that legacy that Al and Rhonda have created with Distinctive Properties, and not change it. There are lots of aspects that we want to emulate and bring back, some we want to change and some we want to keep going. At first glance the main 2 things that we want to keep and continue, are what "The Distinctive Family" means. The feeling of camaraderie and the respect of the Real Estate community. The reputation of our company throughout Denver's real estate community shows longevity and a great representation at the Denver Board, CAR and many other establishments. We will continue to build on this. I think we can agree that some changes are in need as well, to carry on a sort of rebirth of the company that I feel that we can help bring. We have had success in doing business this way and have had proven results in this market combining both tradition and technology. I like to think of Distinctive's future as "Tradition's Turn Towards Today's Trends!"
The changes come in the form of the use of the technology out there and relevancy in the current market place. I am fully aware that changes are tough, ask Katie how well I respond to change. For instance I kept my cell phone for at least 4 years past it's practical life just because I was comfortable with it. But of course once I made the switch, I couldn't believe how much better the new one was for me.
I was around with the transition from MLS books, to dial up DOS, then MyMLS and then Prime Access. All were met with resistance and then became the norm very quickly that no one could live without. We are not claiming to be geniuses or offering something that no one else can offer. We have simply tried some things that have worked for us, and we would like to share them. We also want to learn by trial and error with you on other ideas. We are open to any ideas that you have.
My goal in the new role is to custom make your experience as a Distinctive agent to help your business, period! Of course by doing so, I hope to help Distinctive Properties grow and fulfill all of what we all want our home office to become. Overall a simple goal would be to help all of us understand and utilize all sorts of marketing and sales techniques. Maybe something like a balance of 25% old school, 25% branding, 25% new techie and 25% out of the box. Mostly it's just another couple of ideas to throw out there and helping you implement what you already have.
I want to meet with all of you individually and come up with individual goals. What you want and expect out of the office to help you perform at your best, also to help you understand what we will want and need from you to help our office work efficiently to make everyone's business grow. There are going to be changes that we will all have to go through together, but my job is going to be to assist you in making these changes and more importantly be comfortable with these changes. We are going to do our best to set you up individually to succeed and in turn help Distinctive succeed as we turn from this tough market to what we see to be a growing market in the not so distant future.
I will always be available to you for any advise or questions and my anticipation is to have open office hours every Thursday morning for individual time, and some group training times scheduled for Tuesday mornings over the next couple of months. I don't want to overwhelm you with information or "mandatory" training that is going to be a new level of time commitment. On the other hand, I also want everyone to realize that you are part of a team and it is important that we are all involved and working towards the same goal, being Denver's premier boutique Real Estate Company. This will take an equal distribution of the responsibility to ensure that we all can equally reap the benefits that will come from our new efforts.
