Stapleton Rec Center: Central Park Recreation Center coming along well!
Wow! For those of you who haven't been over to Eastbridge at Stapleton lately the Stapleton Rec center is looking great. The exterior seems nearly complete and landscaping is beginning. As the fences come down and trees go up, it really is feeling like part of the community. Living near by, many of my neighbors were originally concerned about the exterior, veiw blocking etc. and as it has started to put the final touches on, I am hearing no complaints.
The Stapleton Rec Center is on target for an early 2011 opening. This of course will fall perfectly in line for my personal 2011(annual) goal of hitting the gym more often. With it literally a block away I would like to think my excuse meter will have to be down to about zero.
The Rec Center at Stapleton will officially be named the Central Park Recreation Center and be a regional center. It's programming is still being decided by Denver Parks and Recreation and a committee that was put together that consists of many community members.
As a kid I know that I spent darn near as much time at local rec centers as I did school or home. Hitting basketball camps, swimming and even shooting pool. I am looking forward to that kind of healthy habit forming for my kids. Stapleton already is set up so well for an active lifestyle and a safe and fun environment for kids. The addition of the Stapleton Rec Center will only heighten that experience for them, and who knows, it might help me take off a few inches as well.
